Public transportation in Boulder is very good, and NCAR has bikes you can borrow for free as well as shuttle services between facilities.  If you want to check the bus schedules, you can use the website at http://www.rtd-denver.com and click on Trip Planner.  Put in the house address and NCAR's address (Foothills Lab is at 3450 Mitchell Lane, Center Green is 3065 Center Green Drive, Mesa Lab shuttle picks up at Table Mesa and Broadway).  The NCAR Shuttle Bus Schedule is found at http://www.fin.ucar.edu/sass/transport/shuttle-cg.html.
